Project
The Rutherford Appleton Laboratory has a staff of around 1200 who support the work of over 10000 scientists and engineers. Its main facilities enable research into new materials and structures, such as battery electrolytes and X-ray laser research.
Roof Specification
Stucco Embossed Kalzip 400/65 module supported on 150 ST clip with TK5 thermal pads. Kalzip 37 200 deep insulation compressed to 180mm.
Observations
This refurbishment project involved the use of the Kalzip standing seam system to provide a complete weather tight skin to this existing complex roof structure.
The Welded Solutions
Our client decided that due to the complexity and variation in tolerance of the substructure, a welded solution was the only feasible method that would eliminate the risk of water ingress. Our works included welded valley and raking verge details which not only guarantee a weather tight seal but are also aesthetical pleasing..
