Project
This prestigious building is the home of the new National Assembly of Wales. Designed to make an impact this unique landmark was constructed using natural Welsh materials including timber, slate and stone.
Observations
Welding was a real necessity on this project; it was the only way to ensure the final detail of the complex, curved and tapered roof dome was weather tight. In addition, the roof had to compliment the Welsh Millennium centre, which is directly behind the National Assembly building.
The Welded Solutions
Sureweld provided a mixture of welding to interface details on roof domes, gutter details and roof sheets. High capacity 3-phase power source, water cooled torches were used to weld the 6.0 aluminium.
Roof Specification
Tapered and curved Kalzip 400 module in 0.9 Stucco embossed aluminuium. L150 and L190 ST clips fixed to top hat spacers, with vapour control layer, sitting on ridged insulation supported by Kal Deck.
