Project
To create a state-of-the-art facility on the site of the existing hospital. Work was carried out in phases, allowing the hospital to remain open at all times. The old structures will ultimately be demolished.
Problems
These works required 1000m of tapered verge details, and several complex radial roofs. Sterling Building Systems were contracted to carry out the installation of roofing details on several buildings.
The Welded Solutions
Sterling had the experience to set out the complex radial roofs and provide the most functional and attractive finished detail on-site welding. The angle of the sheet would ordinarily have dictated an extensive unsupported area between the Kalzip seams, which would have given a cumbersome and unsightly mechanical detail. The welded solution provided not only gave superior aesthetic appeal, but the detail will also prove to be cost effective over the life of the building.
Roof Specification
Kalzip 400 module in stucco embossed Aluminium, utilising STL190 Clips with thermal pads fixed using clear VCL. Mineral wool insulation completes the specification.
