This project was for a new build high security hospital unit that would house some of the countries highest risk female prisoners.
Roof Specification
Colour coated Kalzip 65/400 module aluminium in RAL 7034, over L150 ST clips with Kalzip insulation compressed to 180 mm, supported on a timber deck.
Observations
This architecturally pleasing building has been put forward for several awards; it was essential that the roof be installed to programme, in adverse weather conditions to form a weather tight building envelope, therefore careful detailing and planning were key to its success.
The Welded Solutions
To allow for speedy installation of the roof construction a mill finish Kalzip sheet was used to form the valley detail which was to be welded, this meant that the roof could be constructed without the need for the paint to be cleaned off prior to installation, on completion of the welding process Sureweld site painted the entire valley detail using PPG Duranar ADS paint. We also supplied installed and welded a number of roof light soakers to the same specification.
